The Ultimate Adventure

I’m told that you can’t move for Colin Baker at the moment, and whether that’s a weight-related joke or not it’s hard to tell. Still, the Sixth Doctor dominates the news pages of Kasterborous for another day with news of the latest series from Big Finish – Doctor Who Stageplays!

These are audio adaptations of the three licensed Doctor Who stage plays – The Ultimate Adventure which played in 1989, The Seven Keys to Doomsday which dates back to 1974 and Curse of the Daleks which ran for one month in 1965 and does not feature the Doctor. All three plays feature the Daleks.

A stellar cast has been assembled for these productions. The series opens with The Ultimate Adventure – written by Terrance Dicks – and stars Colin Baker, Noel Sullivan, Claire Huckle and David Banks. The Doctor and his companions confront the Daleks who have allied themselves with the Cybermen and a deadly band of mercenaries, in an epic adventure spanning time and space.

The Ultimate AdventureReleased as a series, The Doctor Who Stageplays is a long awaited look into the past for Doctor Who fans everywhere who were unable to make the original performances.

Doctor Who and me go way back. I first discovered it on my local PBS Station WHYY in the suburbs outside Philadelphia when I was a young kid; though I am uncertain of the exact age.
