The 18 issue ongoing series of Doctor Who comic strips from IDW from the hand of Tony Lee will feature both the 10th and the 11th Doctors, reveals Tony Lee on ComicBookResources.com.
The chat features lots and lots of hints and clues to the forthcoming series (which launches in July) and takes in the 1930s, two Doctors, old and new villains as well as new friends for the Doctor.
On the matter of running two Doctors through the season, Tony says:
"It starts with David Tennant and it’s going to be a season. It’s hopefully going to be an 18-issue season. And there’s a reason why we only pitched 18 to start with and that’s because it brings us to a natural break which will be about seven months into the television career of Matthew Smith."
Of course, 18 issues would be very unusual without a developing story arc – and naturally Tony Lee has this all in hand, with someone pulling some powerful strings to get at the two incarnations of the Doctor…
"…that’s when you start realizing there is a main bad guy, and that they run throughout the whole “season arc.” They’re the main person who is trying to screw the Doctor’s life up and we don’t quite know why. You know pretty much from the third issue who they are but you don’t quite know why or what’s going on. They are a new character, but involved with an established race."
This sounds like it’s really going to be a superb run of releases from IDW – and in the meantime The Time Machination illustrated by Paul Grist and pictured above is released!
