Touch My Sonic!

For all you Doctor Who fans who own an iPhone or an iPod Touch, there’s an update to the good old Sonic Screwdriver application!

For those who haven’t heard of this particular bit of fun before, this application lets you pretend that you have a sonic screwdriver just like the Doctor (and if you’re of a certain age, stems off the embarrassment of pulling out an actual Sonic Screwdriver that you’ve bought in a shop in front of all your friends at the pub). You can switch between the Ninth and Tenth or Eleventh Doctor’s versions of the device as well.

Now, for those of you who already have the app-the update includes swanky new 3D graphics that have been optimized for the iPhone 4, a torch mode so that you can use the Sonic Screwdriver as an actual torch (iPhone 4 only) and finally you can now open up the app at the last version of the Sonic that you were using, so no need to switch back and forth.

For those of you who have an iPhone/iPod Touch or iPad you might also like to check out the WhoNews app that is featured on. This brings the latest news from the Doctor Who Universe and delivers it straight to your device in one handy and manageable way.

Check both of these marvellous apps out in the iTunes store.

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
