Doctor Who stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan continued their DVD promotional tour today with an appearance on the Steve Wright show on BBC Radio 2.
The stars arrived from a series of international press interviews to promote the Doctor Who Series 5 DVD and the Christmas Special, and appeared on the air with Wright and regular colleague Tim Smith.
Recalling there first year on Doctor Who, Gillan recalled that rather than being scared by the pressure of following Billie Piper and Catherine Tate:
“I think you’ve got to be positive about it, there are moments of terror and moments of fun.”
Steve Wright also quizzed the actress on the press accusations that she was “too sexy“, to which the actress responded:
“There are worse things to be accused of!”
Before Matt Smith added:
“Why not celebrate women and sexiness… I just can’t see how that mud stuck!”
With mentions of Katherine Jenkins appearing in the Christmas Special and singing, the only real new infomration listeners were going to get wasn’t so much a spoiler as an opinion that Matt and Karen share.
“It features the best monster ever!”
Finally, the duo were asked about the level of input they have into scripts; they don’t get much at all, and Matt explained it best when he said:
“It’s more input into how you play things, we don’t mess with the best.”
