Normally, when the star of a television show leaves they do so to ultimately end up in films but not our very own Billie Piper. The former Doctor Who actress would rather stay in good old Blighty to look after her two year old son Winston – and why not?
Piper has proved many times that she is a fine actress with lots of talent and variety however she has no immediate plans to transfer that skill to somewhere like Hollywood just yet:
“To be out there with a baby and to do seven, eight auditions a day is just not massively appealing at the moment.”
As Piper’s fourth series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl begins its run (that’s right, it’s now been five years since Rose was trapped on a parallel world and three since we last saw her!) it’s also due to be the last for various reasons. Although the actress is clearly very happy in the role, she feels it’s time to move on:
“I think we’ve pretty much been everywhere with the stories… you wouldn’t want to exhaust it to the point of just complete ridiculousnessâ€
Piper is looking forward to the new roles that she will (obviously) be offered in the future but has the good heart and grace to mention where part of it all began for her:
“It has worked out well and I can thank Doctor Who for all of that really. It was wholly responsible for giving me a great opportunity.”
Now isn’t that nice? All the way up the top of the ladder and she still remembers to name check the greatest television show in the world!
The new series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl starts 1st February on ITV2.
