Catherine Tate’s Office

Catherine Tate, remember her? Donna Noble and her heartbreaking Time Lord meta crises? Seems like such a long time ago now.

Tate has definitely not been holding back since she left Doctor Who and has been appearing left, right and centre in all sorts of productions.

Her most recent role was a cameo in the American version of The Office where she played the role of a bumbling interviewee who was trying out for a managerial role.

For those of you not in the know, Hollywood funny man Steve Carrel has played the part of Michael Scott, as a childlike and slightly moronic Regional Manager, in the show for the last seven years. After finally finding love he decided to leave his job and move away with his fiancée Holly Flax. This has left his position open and needing a replacement, cue a host of celebrity cameos. Ricky Gervais played David Brent again as he interviewed for the part, Jim Carrey turned up, as did James Spader and Ray Romano.

But it seems that it is Tate’s performance that has won the show’s producers and could be getting the top spot herself. One anonymous person even quoted:

“Catherine is the number one choice, the one person who could take the show off in a different direction.”

If the actress were to land the part it would give her a massive following in the States as the show is incredibly popular due to the fact that it is utterly hilarious.

The new series of The Office starts later this year, so keep your eyes peeled!

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
