Blue Peter is at it again. Years ago, they held a “design a monster” competition for children to enter, the winner got his monster (the Abzorbaloff played by Peter Kay) to appear in the 2006 episode Love & Monsters.
Last year they held a brand new competition for the kids, where they were called upon to design a brand new TARDIS console with the promise that it would appear in Doctor Who itself. The winner, Susannah Leah from Todmorden, is finally about to have her dream come true as her design will feature in The Doctor’s Wife, which is broadcast on May 14th 2011.
Not only will this lucky young lady have all that to deal with, she will also get to meet actor Matt Smith, receive two Blue Peter badges, have a tour of the studio and see her design crafted into real life elegance.
This raises the important question of just what the hell are we going to be seeing when that episode is broadcast?
Doctor Who Magazine and the Doctor Who production team are keeping quiet about the whole episode so that it all comes as a big surprise but so far we have tantalising snippets such as the enigmatic title, Neil Gaiman promising a face that we haven’t encountered since 1969’s The War Games, the Doctor receiving a psychic message from another Time Lord (one of the good ones, apparently) and now, another TARDIS it would seem. The mystery will be revealed soon…
In the meantime, well done Susannah!
The Doctor’s Wife will be shown next Saturday, May 14th on BBC One and BBC One HD
