We Want You – Who?!

Do you like Doctor Who? Do you like to draw comic books? Ever wanted to put those two interests together? If so, we’re looking for you…

As many of you may know back in 2009 we held an artist search looking for talented artists to pencil an original Doctor Who comic strip scripted by Kasterborous Editor in Chief Christian Cawley. The search was such a massive success, leading to our very well received the three part comic Time Leech, penciled by such talent as Justin Abbot and Rick Lundeen.

We had such a great time working on the project that we thought we just needed to have another. Back in May we launched our latest artist search for our new one-off comic adventure and while the response has been overwhelming we wanted to remind everyone that submissions are still being accepted. So any of you artists out there who may not have heard of our competition, or any or you who have friends who you think should be drawing our favorite Time Lord, now is the time to spread the word and get those submissions in!

As before here’s how things will work:

The competition is going to work in three phases:

* Initial submission – a sample of your work, Doctor Who related or otherwise. If we like it, we will ask you to illustrate a…
* Single page from the script – and if this is what we’re looking for, you will be invited to illustrate the…
* Final strip!

The Kasterborous judging team consists of K Editor Extraordinary Christian Cawley, myself Brian Terranova, Kasterborous Art Legend Anthony Dry, Vworp Vworp and Black Scrolls guru Gareth Kavanagh and one other, yet-to-be-announced-but-completely-hoopy-frood.

Remember this project is made by fans and made out of respect for the show and the fun of the project, and the chance to showcase you talent. Of course due to copyright reasons, there is no financial reward involved for this project, but having your work enjoyed by all our Kasterborous readers and then some, well, that isn’t too bad really.

Send your entries to [email protected] – we look forward to hearing from you!

Doctor Who and me go way back. I first discovered it on my local PBS Station WHYY in the suburbs outside Philadelphia when I was a young kid; though I am uncertain of the exact age.
