Florence in Doctor Who?

Who’s got the love? Apparently it’s Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine who as it turns out has become a massive fan of Doctor Who now that Matt Smith has taken ownership of the TARDIS.

Talking with BBC’s Newsbeat, the singer revealed that she loves the show and that she has watched all the episodes that Matt has been in so far – she admits to the cameras that she “is a total geek for it”.

Despite the fact that some of the storylines have been a bit confusing for her at first, Welch has got up to date with the latest River Song plot that’s been playing out during the latest series. Now the singer wants to be a part of the show properly.

But she hasn’t got her sights set on anything as heavy-duty as a companion role; bashfully she reveals that she would rather have a cameo as a monster to face off against the Doctor.

The show has already seen singers such as Billie Piper, Kylie Minogue, Katherine Jenkins and even boyband McFly make appearance so there’s nothing to say that Florence couldn’t pop up in a future episode as a Cyber woman or a Silurian or some such.

But if you could choose a musician to be in the show, who would it be? Answers on a postcard please!

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
