Tom and Louise in Night of the Stormcrow!

Brilliant news for all of you that are current subscribers to the main range of Big Finish’s Doctor Who range, they’ve just announced subscriber special for this year, a Fourth Doctor adventure with Leela called Night of the Stormcrow.

This is a fantastic announcement for all of you that cannot wait until Tom returns in 2013 and will serve as a dark and exciting Christmas special. Not only will Tom Baker and Louise Jameson return for an extra story (before we have to wait for them to pop up again in 2014 no less!) but this story will also guest star Ann Bell (Tenko) as Professor Gesima Cazalet and Chase Masterson (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) as Peggy Brooks. Written by Doctor Who genius Marc Platt, the plot revealed by Big Finish is as follows:

“High atop Mount McKerry sits the observatory. For years now it’s been watching the skies. Now something’s watching back. Something dark and huge that blots out the stars. Something with giant wings. Something that kills.

When the TARDIS is struck mid-flight, the Doctor and Leela crash-land on the mountain to find they are not the only aliens to be visiting. Beings of nothing infest the complex, staff members are dead or mad. As the survivors argue amongst themselves and attempt to take advantage of the situation, a creature vast and terrible is coming ever closer.

A creature called… Stormcrow.”

This story has been described by David Richardson as something that includes  “that nagging neurosis you get when you’re awake at 3:30 in the morning; the terrible fear of what is lurking in the pitch black…” which, quite frankly, sounds fantastic and the perfect listen for a dark and stormy December night!

Night of the Stormcrow will be released in December 2012 and will be free to Big Finish subscribers whose subscription includes the December story 1001 Nights, you can request it as a free bonus story if you are a 12 CD or download main range subscriber.

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
