Busy promoting sci-fi actioner Looper director Rian Johnson let slip that, like a certain Meet the Feebles director, he too would love to direct an episode of Doctor Who.
Having already directed several episodes of crystal meth-a-thon Breaking Bad and FX crime drama Terriers Johnson was asked during a Reddit Ask Me Anything whether he’d like to return to TV:
I’d love to do a Game of Thrones. But what I’d really kill to try, although it would be terrifying because I’m such a big fan of it? Doctor Who.
Johnson first found acclaim with Brick, a high school drama told through the patter of classic Warner Bros. film noir films, before directing Adrian Brody, Mark Ruffalo and Rachel Weisz in the underrated The Brothers Bloom.
His latest film, Looper, released this Friday bends time travel and action in an attempt to make you believe Joseph Gordon Levitt could grow up to be Bruce Willis without a hideous industrial accident mangling his features.
So that’s time travel, genre bending and the ability to working with big and demanding stars (those Daleks can be burdensome if someone turns off their dressing room humidifier)
He’s a perfect choice! Now to test whether he will actually ‘kill to try’ – Peter Jackson, grab your pickaxe!
