The BAFTA’s are taking place this Sunday and the television award show will be honouring and celebrating Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary in a few different ways!
Two Daleks will be making an appearance and will make their way up the esteemed red carpet as honoured guests; whether they try and exterminate their television rivals is anyone’s guess. Jenna-Louise Coleman has also been invited along as an ambassador of Doctor Who and to present an award on the night.
Alongside that, there will be a specially-created sketch starring Matt Smith and Coleman that will be screened during the ceremony: will this be a prequel to The Name of the Doctor or will it be something more lightweight for the guests? Our guess is probably the latter.
Finally, there will be a video montage played to guests that will highlight some of the most memorable scenes and characters from Doctor Who in the first 50 years of the show – or Phase 1 as it should henceforth be known.
BAFTA chief executive, Amanda Barry commented:
There are only a handful of programmes that have the quality and longevity of Doctor Who and the ability to put the nation on their sofas – or indeed behind them – year after year.
The BAFTA’s take place this Sunday at London’s Royal Festival Hall and will be screened on BBC One at 8pm on the same night.
