Coming American Doctor Who Conventions Near You!

America, as it turns out, is teeming with Whovians.

That’s a truly great sentence to write.

And it also turns out that there are quite a few Doctor Who conventions coming up to indulge in your love. But let’s first start off with the biggest…

Gallifrey One

The largest fan-run convention returns in 2015 – and tickets have already sold out! But worry not: ticket transfers are released later this year, so you’re still in with a chance of getting in. Those initial tickets, based on 25 years of experience, sold out in 75 minutes!

The Last Angel

They’ve already announced their first guests, and it looks exciting. Doctor Who companions attending include: Wendy Padbury (Zoe); Janet Fielding (Tegan); Sophie Aldred (Ace); and Frazer Hines (Jamie). Terry Molloy, aka. Davros, will also be there, joined by a couple of Torchwood stars, Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper – as well as Gwyneth in The Unquiet Dead) and Kai Owen (Rhys).

They’ll be joined by Christopher Neame, who starred as Skagre in the unfinished Douglas Adams masterpiece, Shada, and Sarah Louise Madison, who played Weeping Angels throughout the Eleventh Doctor era and Clara’s Time Zombie in Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS.

Derrick Sherwin, who recently released his autobiography through Fantom Books, will guest too; he was script editor during part of the Second Doctor era (including the recently-found Web of Fear) and produced The War Games and Spearhead from Space. Further behind-the-scenes crew attending are: writer, Paul Cornell (Father’s Day); former script editor, Gary Russell; casting director, Andy Pryor; and Danny Hargreaves, who blows things up for a living.

Comic book writer, Tony Lee is the final guest to be announced for now, joining various Gallifrey One returnees like Big Finish’s Jason Haigh-Ellery and Scott Handcock.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

The 26 Seasons of Gallifrey One will take place on 13-15 February 2015 at the Marriott Los Angeles Airport Hotel.

Chicago TARDIS

This convention celebrates its 15th anniversary with some excellent guests.

Supreme Dalek

Just announced is Billie Piper. You must know her. But just in case you’ve had a lapse, she played Rose Tyler regularly 2005-6 then again in 2008 and very briefly in 2010. She was also The Moment in last year’s celebratory special, The Day of the Doctor.

Nicholas Briggs, voice of the Daleks, Cybermen, Skaldak the Ice Warrior, and Judoon, will be in Chicago too (at the convention, not randomly strolling around), as will Jason Haigh-Ellery, The Snowmen‘s Ellie & Joseph Darcey-Alden, and The Time of the Doctor‘s Sonita Henry.

Nicola Walker has also starred in Big Finish audios, but most know her from Spooks and Last Tango in Halifax.

Dominic Glynn, composer for the Sixth and Seventh Doctor eras, will be at the event, alongside Mat Irvine, designer (of K9!).

Chicago TARDIS is held in November and will also include a charity auction to raise funds for the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

L.I.Who 2

Nina Toussaint-White (Mels in 2011’s Let’s Kill Hitler) will be at this November convention, as will Big Finish writer, Nev Fountain. They’ll be joining Living Legend, Terrance Dicks, and the lovely Deborah Watling, better known as Victoria, who joined the TARDIS in Evil of the Daleks.

Titan Comics Eleventh Doctor 1 - panel

But L.I.Who 2 will also be celebrating Titan Comics’ newly-acquisitioned license with both writer, Nick Abadzis and artist, Simon Fraser making their convention debuts!

Long Island’s Doctor Who event will be held at the Clarion Hotel, Ronkonkoma.

Salt Lake City Comic Con

Could a major guest have been leaked? Big Shiny Robot reckons so: Jason David Frink (Green Power Ranger) has posted a photo to his Facebook page of him with Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith!

Matt’s not officially been announced, but Frink captioned the photo “see you in sept. @saltlakecomicon”, so it might well be true.

Who knows, eh? Who. Knows.

When he’s not watching television, reading books ‘n’ Marvel comics, listening to The Killers, and obsessing over script ideas, Philip Bates (Kasterborous' former Editor) pretends to be a freelance writer. He enjoys collecting everything. He is the co-founder of The Doctor Who Companion:
