Doctor Who Diehards Create Dalek Car For Charity Rally

Fancy a drive?

How about one through multiple countries, crossing the Alps, and finishing up in beautiful Barcelona?

Four intrepid, diehard Doctor Who fans are doing just that – in a Dalek car!

Team “The Doctors” is currently taking part in the “Barmy To Barcelona” Wacky Rally banger rally, which set off from Lille, France on 4th July and will wind its way around parts of France  and Belgium, down through Switzerland, across the Italian Alps, and along the Spanish coastline and into Barcelona on 7th July.

Clare Brookes and her friend Michelle Orton wanted to do something big to celebrate their 40th birthdays this year, and after asking around on Facebook, decided a banger rally was the way to go. They teamed up with two other friends and have spent the last few months transforming a small Fiat, which per rally rules cost no more than £300, into “Dino the Dalek”.

The team of four women, who set off on the race dressed as the Fourth, Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Doctors, are traveling the 1500 mile route in the 7-year-old Fiat Multipla (car number 782) that with the help of some polystyrene, a broom handles, a plunger, and a cane added to the roof box, transformed into a Dalek banger car. They’ve even installed a speaker to loudly announce their presence.

They are aiming to EX-TER-MIN-ATE the rest of the competition all the while hoping to raise money for the Teen Cancer Trust.

If you’d like to donate to The Doctors cause, you can donate through the team’s Just Giving page or by texting DARL53 £5 to 70070 (or whatever  amount you wish to give)

To keep up with The Doctors, you can check out the Wacky Rally blog, which posts about all of the happening in the rally, or by checking out Clare Brooke’s Twitter account, where she is posting daily about the conditions and all that happens to Dino the Dalek!

Rebecca is still new to the Who world, but is no stranger to sci-fi, being a life long Trekkie. When not watching, reading, blogging, or talking about Doctor Who, she watches so many movies and reads so many books she has to keep a list of both so she doesn't forget any of them. She wishes she could have been with the Doctor and Amy when they met Van Gogh.
