Peter Jackson, director of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey talked to Entertainment Weekly magazine about the newest film set in the Lord of the Rings universe. Three new set photos have also been released, giving us a tease as to what we will be seeing when the film debuts on the 14th December of 2012.
Jackson commented on the long and tiring experience of making The Hobbit, but also that he had a lot of familiar faces present during production to help him along:
We’re working with much of the same crew as Lord of the Rings and obviously some of the actors like Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, and Andy Serkis are back, so it’s like a reunion. Plus, we’ve got all the new boys.
He also said that Martin Freeman, who plays Bilbo in the film, is well suited to the demands and the look of the role:
He fits the Ears, and he’s got some very nice feet. I think he’s got the biggest hobbit feet we’ve had so far. They’re a little bit hard to walk in, but he’s managed to figure out the perfect hobbit gait.
There was also a bit of odd and amazing trivia about the sets used for Bag End, Bilbo’s home which was also was shown in the previous Lord of the Rings films. The set being used now is brand new due to the fact that the original set now resides on a farm as a working guest house!
The three teaser photos can be seen in full here.
