The Children of Seth

Another series of the fantastic Lost Stories are coming out this year from Big Finish and the latest news is that we’re being treated to not one, not two but three Fifth Doctor tales!

As well as the Seventh Doctor stories that are due out, theses releases will see the Fifth Doctor battling enemies in stories that never made it to the small screen for various reasons. One such story that is bound to get fans excited is The Children of Seth, which is written by Christopher Bailey who was responsible for the 1980 stories Kinda and Snakedance. David Richardson, the Producer of the range explained:

“I contacted Christopher, and he was delighted to hand over the existing script material and storyline. So one day last summer adapter Marc Platt, script editor John Dorney and me piled into a car and met with Christopher in Brighton, working through the story over a long lunch.”

The story involves the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Tegan arriving on a planet that is at war with the mysterious Seth and anyone who asks questions is quickly sent to “hell”… (although we’ve used an image including Mark Strickson, Turlough does not appear in this adventure.)

Recorded in January, the guest cast is also very impressive, including Honor Blackman (who previously appeared in the Sixth Doctor story Terror of the Vervoids), David Warner (who appeared in the Doctor Who animated adventure Dreamland) and Vernon Dobtcheff (who was in the Second Doctor adventure The War Games).

This is going to be a very special release as Kinda and Snakedance are two of the finest Doctor Who stories ever written and with such an amazing cast as well, this is going to be quite a ride…

The Children of Seth will be released in December 2011 and more Lost Stories titles will announced very soon. You can find out more by visiting, and by checking the latest Doctor Who Magazine, which features a fascinating new interview with Janet Fielding.

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
