Daniel Mays Cast

Various new names cast in Series 6 of Doctor Who have emerged over the past few days as shooting begins on the first production block.

Most notable is Daniel Mays, most recently seen as the evil DCI Jim Keats in the final series of Ashes to Ashes. You might also have seen him in Top Buzzer, Funland, Atonement, White Girl, All or Nothing and Vera Drake. A versatile actor, he can cut both a pathethic and an imposing figure, but of course the identity of his character is yet to be revealed – all we know so far is that he plays the father of young boy called Harry.

Harry himself is played by Jamie Oram – Doctor Who will be his first full TV role, having already appeared in several commercials.

Meanwhile, Emma Cunniffe plays Harry’s mother. She has previously appeared in The Lakes (alongside John Simm), Great Expectations, All the King’s Men, Clocking Off, and Flesh and Blood (opposite Christopher Eccleston). Cunniffe has also received an accolage for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in The Master Builder in 1999.

The current production block is helmed by Richard Clark and features two episodes, one by Neil Gaiman and another believed to be by Mark Gatiss. Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill are all apparently recording the episodes.

As ever we’ll have more Doctor Who Series 6 news as it becomes available.
