Grammy award winning Foxes cast in Doctor Who!

Foxes’ Taste for Acting, Doctor Who Yahtzee, Mark Morris & Who’s Changing

It’s a brand new week and that can only mean one thing – time for a bumper News Blast catch up on the news you may have missed! It wasn’t all about the new trailer this weekend, great as it was to have that dropped on us unawares halfway through the World Cup final!

Today we bring you news of Foxes going all fangirl, fun and games with a fabled prison, feature length film screenings and a fab chat with a top fiction writer.

Foxes Hunts More Roles

Pop star Foxes, soon to be seen in a cameo role in Series 8, has described the fun she had filming her role and owned up to letting the exhilaration of the moment get to her just a little:

“It was exciting. I was literally running around set fangirling and being generally embarrassing.”

The singer says she’d be well up for further roles having enjoyed this brief taster, filmed after too little sleep, so much. Rather sweetly, she refers to the evidently wonderful Peter Capaldi as “the Doctor”.

Roll the Dice, Crack the Pandorica

The prison built to hold the Doctor is about to be transformed into a new version of popular dice game Yahtzee, just in time for Comic-Con International! The special edition “comes with a Pandorica stylized box that serves as a dice shaker, custom Roman numeral translucent dice, score pad, pencil and instructions.” It’s described as a Comic-Con exclusive so unless you’re going along, or you know a guy who knows a guy, as they say, you may find it hard to get your hands on one.

I’m struggling to see a link between the Pandorica, or the episodes it featured in, and the game but no doubt some folk will like it – what do you think?

Who’s Changing on the Big Screen!

Well-received Doctor Who documentary Who’s Changing – An Adventure In Time With Fans is to be screened at a couple of upcoming events on either side of the Atlantic. The film, which explores the changing nature of fandom with the help of some well-known faces from the programme, can be seen at DetCon 1 in Detroit, Michigan on July 18 and at CharFest 2014 in Bournemouth on Sunday Aug 24. If you can’t get to these events it’s available on DVD and also for online streaming at Well worth a look.

Mark Morris Speaks!

We’ve saved the best till last for you today cos we’re nice like that – a great interview with Doctor Who audios and novels writer Mark Morris! You may remember him from tales such as Plague of the Daleks, The Bodysnatchers and Ghosts of India. Interviewed for Matthew Stott’s really rather good blog Doctor Who Thing, Mark talks about loving the bad stuff, being terrified by dummies (shudder) and why Saturday 11th January 1975 was when everything changed…

Jonathan has followed the Doctor's adventures since the late Pertwee era, and he isn't about to stop now. A charity worker from Hull, he enjoys following Hull City's fortunes, listening to Bruce Springsteen and collecting all manner of Doctor Who ephemera. He blogs about Doctor Who merchandise at
