No more. No more. No more. Well, just one more. YouTube video, that is.
The War Doctor was instantly recognizable for his simple phrase of defiance, “No more”. But after seeing the character in The Day of the Doctor, many fans were saying, “Yes, more!” to further appearances by the previously unseen Doctor.
Babelcolour, the king of all Time Lord videos on YouTube, has posted a new video celebrating the War Doctor, as played by actor John Hurt. The three-minute long clip (features scenes from Night of the Doctor (it begins with Paul McGann’s regeneration sequence), Day of the Doctor, Name of the Doctor, and also some scenes of a younger Hurt lifted from some of the actor’s earlier non-Who work.
Sadly, his work as the dragon in Merlin did not make the cut.
Aptly, the War Doctor tribute is set to the music of Leonard Cohen’s “Who by Fire”, which gives it a great mood and soulfulness. The words match up well to the images, including the phrase “slow decay” signaling the War Doctor’s regeneration and the words “his lady’s command” cuing a glimpse of Billie Piper’s The Moment. It also burns the word “who” into a person’s brain… many times over.
All in all, this is a great addition to Babelcolour’s lengthy list of Doctor Who tribute videos. In the name of peace and sanity, if you haven’t seen his work on Youtube, definitely look it up!
Kasterborites, if you were going to make a Who-related tribute video, who or what would it be about?
