BBC Dreams of Game Publishing Heaven!

The BBC hopes to blast its way onto the gaming market- believing it could become a £50 million publisher by as early as next year.

Having already self published the likes of Doctor Who: The Mazes of Time, Top Gear: Stunt School and Teletubbies: My First App for iPod Touch, iPad and iPhone (who apparently are more savvy than other iOS platform users and spend more cash; make of that what you will Android users), the BBC believes it has brands that are as iconic and relevant as Call of Duty – which the Beeb hopes will launch them onto the multi-platform market.

Doctor Whois BBC Worldwide’s first cash cow to milk with the corporations Head of Multimedia Development, Dave Anderson already speaking of their plans to deliver:

‘Boxed product console games, virtual worlds and other experiences.”

Digital Directors have already set their sights on their output reaching 10% of the Beeb’s turnover by 2012.

For a hint on what to expect, Kasterborous’ own Simon Mills recently enjoyed a preview of the Doctor Who iPhone app.
