Enemies of The Doctor, get ready to brick it as we get our first look at the TARDIS from the official Doctor Who Lego set.
As you may recall, an official Doctor Who Lego set – complete with a range of monsters, companions and Doctors – was confirmed after fan Andrew Clark submitted a design to the LEGO Ideas site, where it received the requisite 10,000 likes in order for it to be considered for production.
The look of the TARDIS is strikingly similar to Andrew’s design – after all there’s only so much you can alter with what is ostensibly a lot of blue bricks – but it does suggest other designs may be similar to his original concepts.
What’s more, following on from yesterday’s reveal of the outside of the TARDIS you’ll soon be building (although, as we all know TARDIS’ are grown, not built) today, the BBC have teased us further with a glimpse of the control console.
But just which Doctor is it for? Looking at the blue colouring of the central column, it’s difficult to say – you would hazard a guess at it being the Twelfth Doctor’s due to the presence of pink telepathic circuit panel but that blue shade, rather than orange, seems to suggest a more generic design in order to accommodate multiple Doctors – hence the lack of Gallifreyan symbols.
Perhaps it’s just a matter of finding the request pieces within LEGO’s playset that match the console; in which case, it’s a marvel how well thought out everything is and how well it all slots together.
Speaking of the blocky adventures of The Doctor, there’s also the small matter of the LEGO Dimensions Doctor Who set.
The Doctor Who Level Pack includes an additional mission-based Doctor Who level called An Adventure in Space and Time, a Twelfth Doctor LEGO mini-figure, and LEGO models of the TARDIS and K-9, all playable in the game, is released on November 3rd and is followed by a Cyberman Fun Pack which invades your playtime January 19th 2016.
LEGO Dimensions is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
