    The Opposite of Hallelujah:
    Season 2 opener.
Following on from what happened at the end of the last season, season 2 takes place nine months later in which the fortunes of the principal characters have dramatically changed.
It took some adjusting to remember what happened in the previous season, so therefore the start of this season did not get quite a smooth start for me not that I am saying that this was a bad episode.
Despite ousting Amanda as Mayor in the election, Datak does not get to serve as Mayor due to what he did at the end of the previous season. I am sure that many viewers upon seeing Datak in prison is something that he had coming.
Instead of Datak, Niles Pottinger was appointed the provisional mayor and I don’t know of any real life situation in which the mayor stalks his predecessor as seen here at the end with Niles surveilling Amanda.
Shocking to see Irisa slitting Joshua’s throat only for that to turn out to be a vision and not real at all.

    The Lost Ones

    The Watchman:
    Middle episode.
Nice singing from Nolan to Irisa in the flashback.
Tense cliffhanger at the present of what was going to happen to a tied up Nolan.

    This Woman’s Work:
    Season 2, Episode 6.
Felt quite underwhelmed by this episode but there are couple of points worth mentioning :
-Quite surprising who Nolan gets its on considering who the woman had just been with.
-Quite a revelation on what nocturnal activity that Mercado attends to.

If You Could See Her Through My Eyes:
    Season 2, Episode 7.
A girl that the Tarrs knows for a long time has been murdered and quite gruesome the reason why she got killed.
A passable episode with a good murder mystery.

Grant Bowler was interviewed in last week’s Sydney Sunday Telegraph. Although it was mainly about his hosting role on The Amazing Race: Australia vs New Zealand, Defiance was brought up during this interview including saying that he better do a good job on Defiance “because there are 150 people (crew) who want to put their kids through college” !

    Slouching Towards Bethlehem:
    Season 2, Episode 8.
Mia Kirshner finally returns as Kenya.
Admirable the lengths that Amanda went to through to get her sister Kenya back even if it is not quite the right way of doing it.
Good episode of Kenya’s return to the series after absence from the series since the beginning of this season.

    Painted From Memory:
    Season 2, Episode 9.
Second episode and in a row directed by Larry Shaw. Shaw is a former producer and director of Desperate Housewives and Julie Benz had worked him before when she appeared in a sequence of Desperate Housewives episodes.
What a shock and somewhat disappointing that the recovered Kenya is an imposter.
Stahma tells Amanda about the imposter Kenya saying that she got this information from multiple sources. Amusing that Stahma would say this since there was only one source for this information – herself.
Quite amusing when Niles called himself Dr Frankenstein and Doc is Igor.
Well intriguing episode even if meant finding out that the real Kenya is truly gone forever.

    All Things Must Passed:
    Penultimate episode of season 2.
The Tarrs gets kidnapped and I did not imagine who kidnap them and why. So that revelation came as a surprise.
The title says All Things Must Passed but the reason why the Tarrs got kidnapped was about something that could not be passed and needed to be addressed once and for all. So thank goodness that is finally over and done with.

    I Almost Prayed:
    Season 2 finale.
Perhaps such prayers should be said instead for a third season of Defiance.
This episode ends the second season with things left to be resolved with Nolan and Irisa entombed underground and Pillar abducting Christie and Alak.
If I Almost Prayed turns out to be the series finale then with the threads left hanging about it certainly makes for a very unsatisfying finale especially since the way these threads were achieved were not impressively done.

    The Broken Bough:

    Season 3, Episode 3.

What an encounter Nolan and Irisa had with Pilar.

    Impressive rescue of the baby.

    The Beauty of Our Weapons:
    Season 3, Episode 7.

Guest stars Beverly Hills 90210 alum Ian Ziering. These days he is the star of the Sharknado TV movies and it looks like his Defiance appearance here has been deliberately timed to coincide with Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! starring him which comes out a few days after this episode aired.

Harrowing for Irisa being compelled to fight in the upcoming war as a certain memory comes back to life for her.
